Note: I completely forgot about reviewing this course, so better late than never!
After taking the iOS 17 Development Essential Training course (also from LinkedIn learning), my small critique was that it lacked more Swift basic syntax. Swift 5 Essential Training looked good, and I was intrigued about the mention of using games for the examples.
4h of content later, I can confirm that it is a nice and nerdy course that I'm very happy to have chosen. The explanations are great, the structure of the contents and the pacing is superb, and for once, the examples are not the dull and classic hello worlds, but instead tiny games or game fragments (e.g. a shop system, a combat game, role-playing game character stats, and more).
To me, it felt like explaining enough syntax so that when I afterwards did some Swift Playgrounds game programs, they felt trivially easy to understand, and I could try more advanced syntax. Of course, real applications are way more complex, but after this course I am already making tiny Swift changes at work, and I feel more than ready to grab a book.
